Elwood B. Boone, III, FACHE

Elwood B. Boone III, FACHE, has been named president at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital effective Wednesday, August 15. Boone replaces Dr. Ray Troiano who retired in April.

Dr. Thomas Thames, vice president for medical affairs at Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital, had served as interim president since Dr. Troiano’s retirement.

“Since April, Tom Thames, MD, has effectively guided Sentara Virginia Beach General Hospital as interim president and I would like to publicly thank him. We are most appreciative of his willingness to step forward and assist the organization. After a national search, Bernie Boone was selected to take the helm as president of the hospital. Boone has served as president of multiple hospitals over a 16-year career with the Hospital Corporation of America (HCA).
